Although nestled amid Valdez's rural farm country, the Guest Cottage is quite easy to find, especially if you use our handy Travel Guide.

Directions

1) From Taos, travel North on Hwy 64 to Hwy 150 (Ski Valley Road).

2) Turn right at the light and travel 2.5 miles North on Hwy 150 to the intersection of Hwy 230.

3) Turn left onto Hwy 230 and travel 2.5 miles to Dead End sign.

4) Turn right. (At this point the road goes up to the Valdez rim or down the hill into Valdez.) Stay left, and go down the hill into Valdez.

5) At the Post Office sign, travel another 3/10ths of a mile, staying on Hwy 230.

6) On the left side of the road, there will be an old abandoned adobe. Just before the adobe, turn right. The gate post number is 349. You will see a large iron gate with the words Rio Hondo Estates. This road will take you directly to the property.

7) Parking is available in front of the house.

Travel Tips & Numbers

Most of our guests fly into Albuquerque, South of Taos, and arrive at Casa a Rio Hondo via a rental vehicle. The drive is spectacular, as it winds up from mesas to mountains along the Rio Grande. [Taos is about 2 hours from Albuquerque (135 miles) and 1 hour from Santa Fe (72 miles)].

It's probably the shortest drive you will ever take. Unless you stop to observe and take photos of New Mexico's awesome landscape. (Highly recommended!)
